However, his recent de-commitment from the team has made some Sooner fans very worried.Knighton recently addressed his commitment status and may have given the team some hope for next year.In an interview with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Knighton said that while it was a tough decision to de-commit from Oklahoma, he is still fond of the school and has not ruled out re-committing in the future.“Me and my parents and coaches, we had thought about it and we had to re-evaluate things, and I just had a lot of schools showing me love,” Knighton said. “I just had to take the time out to decommit, call coach (Lincoln) Riley and tell him. It was a hard decision because it’s the decision I made; I’m stuck with it for life. I’ve got to take it smart.”Knighton didn’t rule out re-committing to Oklahoma, either.“It can happen,” Knighton said. “I could end up back there. It’s in my top five, and I love Oklahoma.”247Sports rates Knighton as the No. 111 prospect in the country, the No. 11 running back prospect, and the No. 14 prospect from the state of Florida. But despite Knighton’s apparent pledge to keep the Sooners in mind, the experts seem to think that the Clemson Tigers are the most likely candidate to land him.247Sports’ Crystal Ball Predictions have Clemson as the consensus pick to land Knighton. He stated in the interview that Clemson was, in fact, his leader at this time.“That’s my leader,” he said after visiting South Carolina and Clemson on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26, respectively. “I fit in their offense perfectly. The bond is a big brotherhood, the love they show me — it’s just right for me.”Fortunately for the Sooners, the potential loss of Knighton won’t exactly leave the cupboard bare at the running back position. The team already has a commitment from five-star running back Jase McClellan.[South Florida Sun-Sentinel]last_img read more
