(Photo by Elsa/Getty Images)In an impassioned rant on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith called for an upset on Friday, picking No. 12 Syracuse to knock off No. 3 Notre Dame. His prediction didn’t go well. The Orange never got in the end zone against the Fighting Irish, losing 36-3.Notre Dame dominated pretty much from the opening kickoff. An injury to starting quarterback Eric Dungey certainly didn’t help Syracuse, but this looked like ND’s day regardless.Tonight, Smith owned up to his errant pick on Twitter. He even shouted out his ESPN colleague and former Notre Dame standout Mike Golic, who warned him that he would be wrong.“So much for my @CuseFootball prediction. Losing @EricDungey didn’t help. But I’ve got to give it up to @espngolic. He told me on @GolicAndWingo that this was gonna happen. Gotta own it,” Smith tweeted. So much for my @CuseFootball prediction. It just didn’t work out.He might want to be more careful next time he calls for an upset though.last_img read more
