The bizarre error went viral with thousands of people all over Ireland viewing the ‘own point’ online. As Stefan alluded to himself an ‘own point’ is just unheard of in the GAA.However, a few minutes after his bizarre error, he then pulled his hamstring which forced him off.His bad luck didn’t stop there, a few weeks later a motorist drove into the back of his new vehicle – causing €2,000 worth of damage. He then lost his phone and his jacket on a night out, and on his return to training on Monday night he twisted his knee and ankle.Stefan told The Irish Mirror, “I actually feel like I should go to bed and stay there until next September because I’m waiting for Jeremy Beadle to pop out at this stage.“Next I’ll be struck by lightning if my current run of luck is anything to go by.“I’m laughing because if I didn’t laugh I’d cry, but inside I’m crying and wondering what I could have done in a former life.”Connolly then tried to explain how he had scored that infamous ‘point’ against his own side. “I don’t even know how the own point happened.“It’s unheard of in Gaelic football.“Basically I tried to intercept the ball between me and the guy I was marking and somehow knocked it over the bar.“It seemed like nothing at the time because obviously I didn’t mean to do it but by the time I got home after the match it had gone viral. “It was trending on Twitter and it was so bad my manager and even players from the other team were ringing me the next day to see if I was OK.“The worst thing was a few minutes after the own point I pulled my hamstring and got taken off but it looked like I’d been taken off because of the score.”We’re hoping that Stefan’s bad run of luck changes very soon. 🙂IS DONEGAL GAA PLAYER IRELAND’S UNLUCKIEST MAN? was last modified: September 30th, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:newsSportlast_img read more
