The three-year-old campaign leading up to the Guineas classics in April gets under way at Caymanas Park today with the Eight Thirty Sprint over the straight five course confined to native bred fillies taking the spotlight. As is usually the case, the race will be run in two divisions, with 11 declared for the first, and nine for the second. Five debutants are down to contest division one, and judging from the manner in which PAPER CHASER from the Wayne DaCosta stable, and the Dwight Chen-trained EARTH ANGEL have been carrying themselves at exercise, either could win.PAPER CHASER, a chestnut filly by Fearless Vision out of Money Spinner, looked easy out of the straight last Saturday morning in 101:3 by 48.1, while EARTH ANGEL galloped from the gate last Monday in 1:01.1 by 47.3, looking that much sharper than PAPER CHASER.However, they will have to reckon with the pair of BLUE TRADITION and DELPHINIUM, despite both having disappointed on their recent debut behind SARAH LEE over 1100 metres on December 24, finishing fourth and last place, respectively.BEST WORK OUTThe Anthony ‘Baba’ Nunes-trained BLUE TRADITION was installed an even-money favourite over 1100 metres, but despite this she missed the break, and ran wide into the straight, when attempting to mend. Having ran green that day, the bay filly by Blue Pepsi Lodge out of Source Of Tradition will be a lot better for the experience, having galloped 1:01.1 by 47.1 from the gate a week ago, and could well recoup losses with in-form apprentice Linton Steadman aboard.Lorenzo Robinson’s DELPHINIUM turned in the best work out of the straight last Tuesday, galloping 1:01.1 by 46.3 and coming from a favourable draw on the outside, will not be out of it. The vote, however, goes to BLUE TRADITION.Division two looks much easier to unravel, as the Dwight Chen-trained MARLENE MY LOVE (Dane Nelson up) has looked so forward In condition that she is tipped to get off the mark immediately. The bay filly by Adore The Gold out of Miss Chestnut looked sharp at exercise on Wednesday morning, galloping out of the straight in 1:01.1 by 47.3 and will be hard to beat.Elsewhere on the 11-race programme, Nelson’s mount, SILVER CLOUD should win the day’s supporting feature for the Allan “Billy” Williams Memorial Trophy over 1400 metres to be contested by 11 overnight allowance horses.Trained by Steven Todd, the grey SILVER CLOUD is not among the fancied runners but has the capacity to win a race of this nature and gets the nod over UNCLE TAF and ROYAL VIBES. I also like BIMINI to win the first race, FRANKENSTORM to repeat in the second, SMASH AMUSEMENT in the fourth and MARVELLOUS MARVA in the eighth.
Dragons’ Den star and author Peter Casey has launched an Irish-based online interviewing company in Donegal which he claims will lead change in the future of the recruiting sector.Peter CaseyOnline Interview is an online hiring system that allows companies a flexible solution to create and record live or automated video interviews using immediate candidate responses to important questions. While Online Interview (www.onlineinterview.ie) will operate worldwide, the company will be based in Buncrana, with offices in Dublin, and hopes to be employing ten people by the end of the year. Pre-sales support operations are currently based in Chicago and will be handled in Donegal in the next few months.Mr Casey, who made his fortune in executive recruiting, predicts a year one turnover of €1m for Online Interview, rising to €3m at the end of year two.“Online Interviews will be the most disruptive tool in recruiting and training since the introduction of the internet,” said Mr Casey, who has partnered with Managing Director Elton Hysa in the new company which was launched with a live webinar from Chicago in Dublin this week.“This technology is going to completely change the way that recruiting and training is going forward,” said Mr Casey. “It is built with the reality of recruiting in mind and it allows the client to better sell their company to the candidate and vice versa.“Interviews can be two-way or one-way – or we can have a number of different hiring managers online at the one time.“It is also user friendly for the applicant, allowing them to re-record answers to a specific question a number of times until they are happy.“Candidates don’t necessarily need to take off work to record and submit their answers. They can do it from the comfort of their home and therefore eliminate any travel time.“I describe this system as being like Skype with steroids. Its beauty is that you can pre-programme questions and answers, follow up with up to ten hiring manager and allow them to give feedback to candidates. “The system is compatible with all existing Applicant Tracking Systems and is also invaluable as a sales and training tool for companies currently using it in Australia and Tokyo.“It is completely customisable and companies are already finding advantages in uploading training and promotional material for potential candidates and existing staff.“We developed this technology 12 years ago using Cold Fusion and Sql, but the issue was that the files were massive and people had to go out of their way to do it.“Cloud-based technology has now caught up and the stage is set for us to integrate with some of the world’s best recruiters. “It is a more customised, flexible, unlimited and affordable patented product than anything else that is out there.“We have a lot of clients that are currently using it, which has been a huge plus to our development from the start.”DRAGONS’ DEN STAR LAUNCHES ONLINE RECRUITING COMPANY IN DONEGAL was last modified: March 22nd, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:online recruitingPeter Casey
